CV NEWS FEED // A mob of more than 100 migrants on Thursday stormed past a wall on the border between Mexico and El Paso, TX, and attacked Texas National Guard troops.
The violent skirmish was caught on video and quickly circulated on social media. Many observers blasted the riot as a sign of President Joe Biden’s failure to rein in the ongoing crisis at the nation’s southern border.
The New York Post reported Thursday that the mob breached the physical barrier separating the United States and Mexico, “breaking through razor wire and knocking over guards in the process.”
“A group of men with hoodies, gloves and winter jackets could be seen pulling fencing away and dashing through the concertina wire, as a group of five guards stood in a defensive formation to fill the gap,” the Post continued:
The guardsmen firmly held their rifles and stood their ground in front of the migrants, who heavily outnumbered them.
…
In the video, some figures raise their hands in surrender, but seconds later, others scramble through, with some coming through the guards’ legs and knocking them out of the way.
“The group then scrambled to the border gate and started to shout at guardsmen on the other side,” the Post’s report stated.

The “large group” of illegal migrants mostly consisted of “military-aged males,” The Daily Wire reported:
The incident comes as the U.S. Supreme Court this week sided with Texas in its fight against President Joe Biden’s open border agenda, allowing the state to enforce a new law that makes it a crime for illegal aliens to enter Texas without authorization.
“However, a 5th Circuit Court of Appeals panel subsequently blocked the state from being able to enforce the law,” added The Daily Wire.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott posted an update on the situation to X (formerly Twitter) Thursday evening.
“The [Texas] National Guard [and Department] of Public Safety [DPS] quickly regained control [and] are redoubling the razor wire barriers,” Abbott wrote.
“DPS is instructed to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for criminal trespass [and] destruction of property,” emphasized the governor, who earlier this year declared there was an “invasion” at his state’s border.
Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick wrote on X that the violent altercation was “[v]ideo evidence that our country is being invaded.”
“The Biden Administration has turned a blind eye on purpose,” he stressed. “Enough is enough, we need new leadership in the White House.”
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, agreed, writing: “The Biden Border Crisis is an invasion. Anyone who says differently is lying to you.”
Friday morning, the official X account for the Republican Conference of the U.S. House of Representatives posted a picture of the Post’s cover that day – which included a picture of the riot and the headline “Onslaught.”
“Joe Biden’s America,” the House Republicans wrote.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton wrote: “Our military should secure the border. Now.”
Political commentator Mike Cernovich stated that following the border breach, “[t]here can be no denial” about the “true nature” of the border crisis. The “attack showed us that yes it’s a violent invasion,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, critics blasted MSNBC host Joe Scarborough after he appeared to blame the border riot on former President Donald Trump – the presumptive Republican nominee set to face Biden in November.
On Friday’s episode of “Morning Joe,” Scarborough held up the day’s issue of the Post with the “Onslaught” headline visible. “I would carry this around,” he said. “See this onslaught headline? The only thing the Post didn’t tell you is Donald Trump said, ‘Blame me for this.’”
“So yes, Donald, we are blaming you,” the MSNBC host said.

Political commentator Collin Rugg dismissed Scarborough’s remarks on X: “This is what propaganda looks like, folks.”
Trump is currently leading Biden in almost all recent national polls. In some polls, he is leading among Hispanic voters, an unprecedented feat for a Republican presidential candidate.
A poll from late last month showed that more than six in ten voters view the border crisis as a “very serious problem.”
Scarborough served in Congress as a Republican during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He has since left the Republican Party and is now considered by many to be a left-leaning pundit.
In a viral post, one X user appeared to come to the exact opposite conclusion as the ex-congressman-turned-MSNBC host’s.
“I am now voting for Trump,” wrote the user, who noted that he nevertheless remains a staunch critic of the former president.
“We’re talking about the destruction of America,” he stated referring to Thursday’s border riot:
This Invasion is the worst thing I’ve, ever, seen in my lifetime. This is our destruction.
This is beyond comprehension. A total and complete destruction. Securing the border must be done at all costs. At all costs.
