join the clubYour broker can assist you in making a gift of securities, including stock and mutual fund shares, through a depository trust company (DTC) transfer to the CatholicVote Education Fund. A gift of securities can be one of the most advantageous ways of giving. Giving securities held for over one year generally generates an income-tax deduction for the market value of the securities, and capital gains taxes can be avoided through such a gift.
If you would like to make a gift of securities, please provide your broker with the following information:
Receiving Firm Name: Fidelity Brokerage Services
Receiving Account Title: Fidelis Center for Law & Policy
Receiving Firm DTC Number: 0226
Receiving Account Number: Z40393269
IMPORTANT: Please have your broker put your name in the “back office trailer” so that we know the gift is from you and can track it for tax purposes.
If you have general questions about making a gift of securities, please contact Barb Moore, CatholicVote, (317) 669-6127 or bmoore@catholicvote.org.
IRA owners who are at least age 70 1/2 can make a tax-free charitable contribution from their IRA to the CatholicVote Education Fund. This is known as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). Amounts distributed as a QCD—up to $100,000 per year—can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. A QCD does not appear in your adjusted gross income (AGI), effectively reducing your taxable income.
