CV NEWS FEED // Hundreds of thousands of trucks and other vehicles are currently headed to the southern border in several convoys to protest the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
The Daily Signal reported that the first “Take Our Border Back” convoy “kicked off on Monday” with a group heading from Virginia Beach, VA, to the key border city of Eagle Pass, TX.
A second group began to head from Texas to the Arizona border town Yuma on Thursday, while a third will leave southern California for Yuma on Saturday.
“To the naysayers: We’re just ordinary citizens, farmers, ranchers, retired police officers,” emphasized Kim Yeater, a radio show host who is organizing the protest.
“Not crazy conspiracy theorists,” she added in a statement to The New York Post.
Yeater said the event “will be a peaceful assembly of Americans of all political classes and all ethnicities.”
“We’ve got Canadian truckers, moms and dads. We’ve got motorcycles. If people could bring horses they’d bring horses,” she said. “I know the numbers we are looking at are 700,000. I think it’ll possibly be bigger than that.
Yeater told the Post that she and the other convoy organizers do not oppose migration as a whole: “We’re all about safe, legal, immigrations, by vetting the people coming in.”
She said mothers who lost their children to the fentanyl epidemic – which has surged as a result of the border crisis – will address the convoy Saturday. “I have one whose child was killed by an illegal immigrant who had crossed that border multiple times. She just left the cemetery yesterday, on what would have been his birthday.”

Lt. Col. Pete Chambers, another one of the convoy’s organizers, stated that the “goal is simple: to shed light on the obvious dangers posed by wide open southern borders.”
Chambers noted that the planned massive event also seeks
[t]o request all laws of our Constitution be immediately upheld to slow and ultimately stop drug trafficking, human trafficking associated with open borders, to call for immediate action to secure our borders before the irreversible, serious consequences befall our nation.
Army Veteran Veronica Suri is supporting the convoy. “I took an oath to protect the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic,” she said. “That oath doesn’t expire. And I’m [here] to protect, and serve my country, till the day I die.”
At least one member of Congress has voiced support for the protest.
“The American people have had enough,” said Rep. Keith Self, R-TX, during a FOX Business appearance. “We are demanding that the Biden administration do it’s job, enforce the laws on the books and secure our border.”
Self referenced government data that show immigration officials have seen over eight million encounters with migrants during Biden’s presidency. “That’s more than the population of Ohio,” he noted.
The congressman also ensured that the convoy’s organizers “are committed to a peaceful demonstration.”
The convoy’s first destination of Eagle Pass has emerged as a primary hotspot for the intensifying national border crisis.
The city’s Shelby Park is the site of an ongoing standoff between the state of Texas and the Biden administration. It began three weeks ago when Republican Gov. Greg Abbott successfully directed the state’s National Guard to take control of the border park in order to stop migrants from crossing en masse.
Last week, Abbott invoked Texas’ “constitutional right to self-defense” stating that Biden “has refused to enforce [immigration] laws and has even violated them.”
Former President Donald Trump and all but one of Abbott’s fellow Republican governors promptly voiced their support for Texas.
