CV NEWS FEED // The Republican National Committee (RNC) announced Monday that it is suing Democratic Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguliar, alleging his state’s election rolls have an “impossibly high” number of voters.
“At least five counties in Nevada have inordinately high voter registration rates,” claims the lawsuit. “At least three Nevada counties have more registered voters than they have adult citizens who are over the age of 18. That number of voters is impossibly high.”
“An additional two counties have voter registration rates that exceed 90 percent of adult citizens over the age of 18,” the suit adds. “That figure far eclipses the national and statewide voter registration rate in recent elections.”
The move marks the RNC’s second lawsuit against a swing state elections official since its leadership change earlier this month. Last week, the RNC sued Democratic Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, alleging “inflated” voter rolls.
The lawsuits accuse each respective Secretary of State of “fail[ing] to live up to the … requirements” of Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), which calls for states “to maintain clean and accurate voter registration records.”
The NVRA is a Clinton-era law often referred to as the “Motor Voter Act.”

Shortly after filing the Nevada suit, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley released a statement noting that “[e]lection integrity starts with clean voter rolls.”
“[T]hat’s why the [NVRA] requires state officials to keep their rolls accurate and up-to-date,” Whatley added.
The RNC chairman pointed out that “Nevada has universal mail voting and no voter ID requirement,” which makes Aguilar’s “failure to comply with the NVRA and provide accurate voter rolls all the more concerning.”
“Securing clean voter rolls in Nevada is a critical step towards ensuring that it will be easy to vote and hard to cheat,” Whatley emphasized.
The Daily Wire reported:
Nevada, which has been won by Democratic candidates in every presidential election since 2008, is currently a toss-up in the 2024 presidential race. Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in the state by just over four points, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
Nevada is also one of the four battleground states in which CatholicVote is running its recently released immigration ad, “Protect the Vulnerable.”
