CV NEWS FEED // A coalition of House Republicans slammed various “green” policies which they say serve the interests of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and other hostile foreign powers.
“China could greatly improve its economic and geopolitical position should renewable energy resource use and electrification increase in the United States,” three House committee chairmen wrote in a Monday letter to Energy Foundation China (EFC) President Zi Chou.
The lawmakers noted that “China dominates global renewable energy product supply chains, such as those for batteries, solar panels, and electrolyzers.”
“[W]e are alarmed by reports of China-affiliated organizations attempting to influence United States energy policy,” they added.
According to a Monday press release from McMorris Rodgers’ office, “EFC is a Beijing-headquartered organization with a stated mission of furthering China’s sustainable energy development and employs staff with significant ties to the [CCP].”
The letter was signed by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-WA, House Science Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-OK, and House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman, R-AR.
FOX News indicated that the letter came “following a Fox News Digital report that uncovered $3.8 million in donations the Energy Foundation sent to American climate groups.”
FOX added:
Among its apparent connections to the CCP apparatus, Chou himself previously served as the deputy director general of China’s National Center for Climate Change Strategy, an agency within the Chinese government’s National Development and Reform Commission.

A bipartisan group of House lawmakers wrote a letter to the Biden administration in September urging it to honor a 2021 law prohibiting the use of solar panels made using the CCP’s “forced labor” of minority groups.
In November, CatholicVote reported that two Democratic governors “allowed a company with ties to the [CCP] to open factories producing batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) in their states.”
McMorris Rodgers and Westerman also joined House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA in blasting the Biden administration’s latest crackdown on the natural gas industry.
“My Administration is announcing today a temporary pause on pending decisions of Liquefied Natural Gas [(LNG)] exports,” President Biden wrote in a Friday statement:
This pause on new LNG approvals sees the climate crisis for what it is: the existential threat of our time. While MAGA Republicans willfully deny the urgency of the climate crisis, condemning the American people to a dangerous future, my Administration will not be complacent.

McMorris Rodgers called the newly announced policy “another gift to Putin.”
“President Biden’s decision to indefinitely pause LNG export permits prioritizes the wishes of radical activists over U.S. energy security and the security of our allies,” she stated.
Westerman agreed: “Stopping the export of American natural gas is a win for our adversaries, like China and Russia, and a direct blow to the environment, American energy workers and communities as well as our allies overseas.”
“It’s a policy that is shortsighted political pandering and will do nothing but drive the cost of energy even higher,” the congressman emphasized.
Johnson added: “It is outrageous that this administration is asking American taxpayers to spend billions to defeat Russia while knowingly forcing allies to rely on Russian energy, giving Putin an advantage.”
“We are the richest energy nation in the world with respect to coal, oil and natural gas,” Institute for Energy Research (IER) President Tom Pyle told FOX:
And yet the Biden administration and the environmentalists fueled by China are promoting policies that would increase our dependence on China, which controls all the minerals and materials needed for batteries and wind and solar, and curtail our production of oil and gas here at home.
