WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5 BIDEN ED SEC: STUDENTS NEED ABORTIONS Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, who claims to be a Catholic, said on Tuesday that college students need abortions in order to succeed in life. “Students need access to health care to thrive in school and in life, and that includes reproductive health care,” Cardona said. READ SCHOOLS STOP ABORTION REFERRALS UNDER PRO-LIFE LAW Because of Idaho’s No Public Funds for Abortion Act, now in effect, public colleges and universities in the Gem State are advising staff not to refer students for abortions or “emergency contraception.” If they do, they could be charged with a felony offense. READ HOSPITALS HIDING CHILD ‘GENDER’ PROCEDURES Health care facilities across the country, including some prominent children’s hospitals, are scrubbing their websites of information about the “trans” procedures they perform on minors. At least 21 hospitals have recently made changes to the sections on their websites describing their gender-related activities. READ WEALTHY HEIR VS. PRO-LIFERS AIDING MOMS Edsel B. Ford II, heir and great-grandson of American automobile icon Henry Ford, wrote to his local city officials to complain about a Catholic church’s pro-life signs offering help to women in crisis pregnancy situations. Ford argued that “protecting the aesthetic value of our community obligates the City of Grosse Pointe Farms to require St. Paul Catholic Church to remove this improper blight immediately.” READ NATIONAL DEBT PASSES $31 TRILLION The U.S. national debt has passed $31 trillion for the first time in history. Treasury Department data released Tuesday showed that the total national debt was $31.123 trillion. In 2022, the budget deficit is expected to be about $1 trillion. Some experts believe $1 trillion per year in new debt is the floor given growth in entitlement spending as well as new spending priorities set by Congress this year such as aid to Ukraine and Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. Judge Richard Young ruled Friday that the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and its educational institutions can hire, retain, or suspend faculty in accordance with their religious standards. CENSORS Catholic University of America (CUA) President Peter Kilpatrick this week rejected efforts to stop Catholic commentator Matt Walsh from speaking on campus about his film “What Is a Woman?” which questions the LGBTQ agenda. “I believe that bringing in speakers that challenge us and push us to consider different perspectives is a hallmark of a thriving intellectual environment,” Kilpatrick wrote in a campus email.
