CV NEWS FEED // The state of Missouri has filed a lawsuit against Washington University after the institution failed to give the state documents related to its clinic, which subjects children to so-called “gender-affirming care.”
Republican state Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced the case on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
“We have filed suit against Washington University in St. Louis for failing to hand over documents they had previously agreed to provide amidst our investigation into their pediatric transgender clinic,” he wrote. “What’s more, we have reason to believe the Biden administration is interfering with the investigation.”
He continued:
In February, a whistleblower came forward with allegations that the center used experimental drugs on children, gave puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones without individualized assessment, and bullied parents into ‘consenting’ to giving their children life-altering drugs.
“We immediately took action,” Bailey emphasized.
“We will not let Joe Biden and his federal bureaucrats interfere with our investigation into the pediatric transgender clinic,” the Republican stated via a Thursday press release.
“These documents are critical to exposing that children were subject to irreversible, life-altering procedures without full and informed parental consent,” added the attorney general. “We’ve been fighting to protect children since the day I took office, and we will not stop now.”
According to the lawsuit, Missouri
has reason to believe that the Federal Government has quietly pressured Washington University not to comply with this lawful, critical investigation, and has used [the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)] as its leverage for that pressure.
A court order adjudicating this issue, upholding the [Civil Investigative Demand (CID)] under Missouri law and ruling that HIPAA does not prohibit compliance with the CID, would resolve any impediment Washington University believes it faces.
HIPAA is a bipartisan Clinton-era law that was enacted in 1996 to protect the rights of healthcare patients. The Biden administration has recently embarked on a campaign to redefine the scope of the law in order to protect Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.

In August, CatholicVote reported on a similar interaction between the Biden administration and a “pediatric transgender clinic.”
The Biden administration launched a ‘civil rights investigation’ into a Tennessee hospital after it shared its records of performing “trans” surgeries, including on minors, with the state government.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville was known for operating a now-closed pediatric clinic that performed so-called “transgender” surgeries on children.

According to a June Daily Wire report:
Generally, Tennessee law mandates that medical records be kept confidential, but because [Republican] Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is conducting an investigation into the medical center’s practices, he has the legal authority to pursue the records, according to Paul Hales, an attorney who specializes in health privacy.
