CV NEWS FEED // Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance, R-OH, blasted Vice President Kamala Harris during a visit to the Arizona-Mexico border on Thursday.
In his remarks, Vance stressed that the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies “cause real human beings to suffer,” pointing to the resulting crisis of fentanyl overdose and poisoning.
“Kamala Harris came into office making promises, and she kept those promises to open the American southern border,” Vance said.
He noted that the incumbent administration “stopped deportations on day one, they stopped construction of the border wall on day one.”
“They reinstated ‘catch-and-release’ and they stopped ‘Remain in Mexico’ so all of these asylum claimants who come to our border,” he explained, “can now get released into our country because they’re not forced to stay in Mexico while we adjudicate their asylum claims.”
“And we have to remember that as terrible and idiotic as these policies were, they cause real human beings to suffer,” Vance said.
The vice presidential candidate pointed to his own mother’s previous struggle with drug addiction to illustrate how the increased amount of fentanyl coming across the border is destroying thousands of American families.
“I have been a little kid waiting at the bedside of his mother angry that his mom took something that she shouldn’t have taken but praying to God, ‘Please, Jesus, let her wake up,’” Vance recounted:
And the unfortunate truth is, because of the poison that Kamala Harris has let come into this country, there are a lot of those prayers that won’t be answered.
There are a lot of parents that won’t wake up because when you take fentanyl, you don’t wake up. It takes your life.

“There are a lot of kids out there who have been deprived of second chances with their moms and dads,” Vance continued. “There are a lot of moms and dads out there that will never see their kids walk down the aisle because of what Kamala Harris has unleashed at the border.”
At the end of last year, CatholicVote reported that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on X they had “seized more than 3,400lbs of fentanyl nationwide” in the two previous months.
CatholicVote added at the time:
According to an official Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) website, fentanyl overdose is now the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 45. In addition, over 70% of drug overdose deaths in the past year have been due to fentanyl.
>> CRITICS SLAM MEDIA OVER CONTRADICTORY REPORTS ON HARRIS’ BORDER CZAR TITLE <<
Since Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee less than two weeks ago, many of her critics pointed out the fact that Biden had put her in charge of ending the border crisis early in their administration.
Many of the same media outlets who had in 2021 referred to Harris as Biden’s “border czar” responded by claiming that she never had any such role – an assertion that critics blasted as biased and “Orwellian.”
CatholicVote reported earlier this week:
Also in 2021, Harris’ record on the border issue came under increased scrutiny following a viral interview with NBC’s Lester Holt.
When Holt asked Harris multiple times if she planned to visit the border, the vice president replied: “At some point, you know, we are going to the border. We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.”
Holt pointed out that Harris had not in fact visited the border.
“And I haven’t been to Europe,” Harris said.
