CV NEWS FEED // Pro-Palestine protestors at the University of Florida (UF) reportedly decided to end their encampment on campus after the university sent them a notice reminding them of prohibited activities and “Consequences for Non-Compliance.”
A citizen journalist who has been reporting on the nationwide anti-Israel campus protests on X (formerly Twitter), posted a photograph of a handout from UF’s Division of Student Life, which he said was given to the demonstrators.
The handout featured a list of items under three categories: “Allowable Activities,” “Prohibitive [sic] Items and Activities” and “Consequences for Non-Compliance.”
Under “Allowable Activities”: the handout listed “Speech,” “Expressing viewpoints,” and “Holding signs in hands.”
On the other hand, the handout clearly delineated behaviors that are not acceptable on campus under its “Prohibitive Items and Activities” section.
Among these activities and objects are “littering,” “camping, including tents, sleeping bags, pillows, etc.,” “sleeping,” “disruption,” “threats,” “violence,” and “weapons.”
“Any other items and/or activities deemed to be non-compliant with policy and regulations by university officials,” are “prohibitive,” the handout adds.
“Individuals found responsible for engaging in prohibited activities shall be trespassed from campus,” it continues under the “Consequences” section. “Students will receive a 3 year trespass of suspension. Employees will be trespassed and separated from employment.”
“Look at those Consequences for Non-Compliance,” the journalist, who goes by the name Stu, wrote in his X post Thursday night.
He also pointed out that UF’s Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapter responded to the notice with a defiant Instagram post, also on Thursday.
“SHOW UP FOR PALESTINE AND AGAINST POLICE REPRESSION‼” the post stated.
“UF PD HANDED OUT FLYERS WITH DRACONIAN NEW REGULATIONS ON THEM, CLEARLY DESIGNED TO STOP OUR LIBERATION ZONE– THEY WILL NOT WIN‼️” it added.
The socialist student group continued: “We will be reassembling at noon, Friday, 4/26. If you are planning to go to the RTS rally, we will be in Plaza after as well! DISCLOSE, DIVEST, FREE PALESTINE”
YDSA’s post referred to the demonstration as an “emergency protest,” and included the picture of a banner stating “NOT A WAR A GENOCIDE” in all capital letters.
The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh called the handout given to the student protestors, “very well done.”
“Nowhere does the letter say they can’t protest, nor does it tell them that certain viewpoints aren’t acceptable,” he noted.
“It simply informs them that they must follow the same rules as everyone else or face the consequences,” Walsh summarized. “Pretty simple. Florida setting the example yet again.”
This is not the first recent move from UF administration that has differentiated the massive public university from the rest of usually far-left academia.
Early last month CatholicVote reported that UF “fired all of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) employees [and] reallocated millions of dollars in spending previously earmarked for DEI.”
“The moves were in accordance with a law that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed last year to strip DEI funding from the state’s public universities, of which UF is by far the largest,” CatholicVote added at the time.

UF President Ben Sasse, who was behind the moves, is a former Republican U.S. Senator (from Nebraska) and a prominent longtime critic of far-left “woke” ideology.
FOX News noted on March 1st that UF is “one of the largest universities in the United States with more than 61,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled.”
