CV NEWS FEED // An 80-year-old Michigan man is fighting for his life after a 22-year-old ran him over with an ATV after seeing the elderly man place a sign in his yard in support of former President Donald Trump.
Police have called the Sunday evening attack “politically motivated.” Multiple sources described it as a “hit and run.”
According to the Hancock, Michigan Police Department, the Trump supporter “was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.”
The Daily Wire reported that the 80-year-old had suffered a “brain bleed,” among other injuries.
“The 22-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released to the media, was found dead Tuesday in a home in Quincy Township with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” according to The Daily Wire. “This was the third incident police believe to be politically motivated that occurred on Sunday alone.”
The two previous incidents occurred around the same area and “involved vehicles that were vandalized, with the police department saying the suspect “appeared to target both Trump and Law Enforcement supporters,” added the report.
Hancock Police believe the same 22-year-old man was behind all three incidents.
Per the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, the now-dead perpetrator specifically targeted “victims who displayed Trump election signs as well as law enforcement appreciation stickers and flags commonly referred to as ‘thin blue line’ paraphernalia.”
The Sunday attack occurred just over a week after a 20-year-old gunman injured Trump in an assassination attempt. The shooting occurred while Trump was delivering remarks at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
Although Trump survived, the shooting resulted in the death of former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, a rally attendee who died heroically shielding his family from the gunfire.
In the days that have followed, many critics scrutinized a popular left-wing narrative that Trump supporters and conservatives in general are a “threat to democracy.”
