CV NEWS FEED // Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump said that billionaire Meta CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg called him to apologize for the company falsely flagging Trump’s iconic post-assassiantion attempt “fight” photo.
Trump told FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo that Zuckerberg called him “a few times” since a would-be assassin tried to take his life on July 13.
“He called me after the [assassination attempt] and he said that was really amazing, that was really brave,” the 45th president said, adding that Zuckerberg “actually announced he’s not going to support a Democrat … because he respected me for what I did that day.”
Trump said he believed what he did following the attempt on his life was just “a normal response.”
“But I was called by Mark Zuckerberg yesterday, the day before, on this same subject, and he actually apologized,” Trump continued, referring to the controversy surrounding Meta’s platforms Facebook and Instagram flagging the “fight” photo.
Zuckerberg said his company “made a mistake … and they are correcting the mistake,” the former president said.
Trump contrasted Zuckerberg’s apology with the lack of response from Google – another Big Tech company that allegedly censored coverage of the former president’s attempted assassination. “Nobody called from Google.”

In a July 17 interview with Bloomberg, Zuckerberg publicly praised Trump’s reaction to nearly getting assassinated – which was captured in the “fight” picture Meta’s platforms would wrongly flag as altered just over a week later.
“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” the Meta CEO said during the interview.
“On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight,” Zuckerberg said, referring to Trump. “I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy.”
CatholicVote reported last week: “During the same interview, Zuckerberg also said he would not endorse either major party candidate in November’s presidential election.”
FOX Business noted that this statement by Zuckerberg represents
a dramatic shift from the 2020 election, when Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan poured about $400 million to two nonprofit organizations to help various government election offices across the country with work and equipment including ballot drop boxes, voting equipment, additional manpower and public education campaigns on new voting methods.
“Democrats defended the money as necessary to conduct the election safely during the COVID-19 pandemic,” FOX Business added, “while Republicans noted most of the grants targeted Democrat-leaning districts.”

On Tuesday, Trump exhorted his TRUTH Social followers to “GO AFTER META AND GOOGLE,” stating the alleged censorship amounted to “another attempt at RIGGING THE ELECTION.”
“LET THEM KNOW WE ARE ALL WISE TO THEM, WILL BE MUCH TOUGHER THIS TIME,” Trump added, using all capital letters.
Trump’s Tuesday TRUTH Social post most likely came before Zuckerberg personally called the former president to apologize.
