CV NEWS FEED // Police arrested a group of ten suspected illegal immigrants on child pornography charges at a house in East Texas Thursday.
The group was reported to include individuals hailing from Guatemala and Asia.
FOX News reported that the “10 suspects were taken into custody Thursday morning following a search of a house … about 33 miles east of Downtown Houston, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).”
“Once inside, police discovered 10 people who the CCSO said are believed to be in the U.S. illegally,” FOX added.
According to a spokesperson from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the house “was additionally determined to be a stash house for human smuggling activities.”
The National Desk (TND) noted that “[d]etectives are continuing the investigation to determine whether human trafficking or smuggling has been committed.”
“Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested nearly 14,000 people in the Houston region during the 2023 fiscal year, with roughly 600 of them registered as Guatemalan citizens,” TND added.
An X (formerly Twitter) account run by the Republican National Committee (RNC) stated Friday that the bust was indicative of a surge of migrant crime that has taken place under the presidency of Joe Biden.
Two hours later, the same RNC account posted a report of an illegal migrant arrested in Texas for sexually assaulting a child in Florida.
“Texas authorities caught an illegal migrant who was wanted in a child molestation case,” reported TND via a television broadcast.
“The Texas Department of Public Safety caught Gabriel Guttierez Perez after they saw him cross the Rio Grande River on a jet ski and then get picked up by a smuggler,” the TND broadcast continued.
“Records revealed he was wanted on warrants in Florida for sexual assault on a child,” TND went on:
Border Patrol [is] also now reporting its agents caught 54 convicted sex predators who crossed the Del Rio sector illegally since October including multiple child rapists.
