CV NEWS FEED // Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said in a Monday CNN interview that he considers President Joe Biden to be a “much worse threat to democracy” than former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy cited the Biden administration’s weaponization of the federal government against its political opponents.
Hostess Erin Burnett asked Kennedy: “When people talk about the threat to democracy that Trump poses, do you really think that is as equal … to Biden?”
“I can make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy,” Kennedy answered. “And the reason for that is President Biden is … the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech, so to censor his opponent.”
“I can say that because I just won a case … that shows that … 37 hours after he took the oath of office, he was censoring me,” the attorney continued. “No president in the country has ever done that.”
Kennedy went on to contrast Biden’s supporters’ claims about Trump being a “threat to democracy” with the actions of the Biden administration:
The greatest threat to democracy is not somebody who questions election returns, but a president of the United States who uses the power of his office to force the social media companies, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter to open a portal and give access to that portal to the [Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)], to the [Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)], to the [Internal Revenue Service (IRS)], to [Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)], to [National Institutes of Health (NIH)] to censor his political critics.

“President Biden [is] the first president in history to use … his power over the Secret Service to deny Secret Service protection to one of his political opponents for political reasons,” Kennedy argued. “[Biden is] weaponizing the federal agencies. Those are really critical threats to democracy.”
Late last month, FOX News reported that Kennedy’s presidential campaign “racked up $1.4 million in debt to a private security firm, while the Biden administration has repeatedly denied his requests for Secret Service protection.”
Last fall, authorities arrested two seperate men for stalking Kennedy. At the time, the candidate’s campaign noted that it “over several months … submitted formal requests for Secret Service protection.”
“Yet U.S. Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas has refused to approve the protection,” the Kennedy campaign indicated in a press release dated October 26, 2023. “Every presidential administration for 55 years has afforded early protection to candidates who requested it. The Biden administration is the sole outlier.”

In a Tuesday morning appearance on FOX & Friends, Kennedy doubled down on his remarks from the previous day.
“Why did you say that?” co-host Lawrence Jones asked him.
“I said I could make that argument, and I think its an argument that we ought to be having,” Kennedy answered. “President Biden has done something that no other president in history has done which is to order media, particularly the social media … to censor his political opponents.”
“The First Amendment was put in the Constitution,” Kennedy continued. “Madison, Hamilton, Adams said we put free expression to guarantee the First Amendment because all the other rights are dependent on it.”
“If you have a president who can censor his political opponents … that is a genuine threat to our democracy,” Kennedy added.
