CV NEWS FEED // In a foreword to the book Jubilee of Hope by Vatican journalist Francesco Antonio Grana, Pope Francis has called for a ceasefire in all conflicts worldwide.
“I truly hope that the upcoming Jubilee marks an opportunity for a ceasefire in all the countries where war is being waged!” the Pope said, according to Vatican News.
Pope Francis has consistently called for peace in response to global conflicts. He has previously proclaimed days of prayer and fasting for peace regarding conflicts such as during the Ukraine war and the violence in the Middle East.

In the foreword, the Pope stressed that the Jubilee is not merely a ceremonial event but a “pastoral instrument” meant to foster spiritual growth and inspire concrete actions for the common good. He urged pilgrims to approach the Holy Year with humility, using it as a time to reflect on their lives in light of the Gospel and to perform acts of charity in secret.
Pope Francis also emphasized that hope must be grounded in action.
“It is not an illusion or an emotion,” he said. “It is a concrete virtue, a way of life, and it involves concrete choices. Hope is nourished by each person’s commitment to good.”
Among other major events, the Jubilee will feature the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and Blessed Carlo Acutis, two young role models of service and faith. Pope Francis highlighted their lives as examples of how to embody the Gospel and serve others with love and joy.
