CV NEWS FEED // According to a recent poll, significantly more American Catholics – particularly Hispanics – support former President Donald Trump than during the run-up to the 2020 Presidential Election.
The Pew Research Center poll released Tuesday found that 55% of respondents who listed their religion as Catholic preferred Trump over President Joe Biden in this year’s election matchup.
This figure includes both respondents who said that they would vote for Trump and those leaning toward voting for him.
Conversely, 43% of self-identified Catholics polled indicated that they will vote for – or are leaning toward voting for Biden over Trump.
FOX News noted that “[t]he 12% margin of support in favor of Trump marks a significant shift from 2020, when he held an extremely narrow lead — 50% to 49%.”
Therefore, per Pew Research, American Catholics are 11 points more likely to prefer Trump to Biden than they were four years ago when he was the incumbent president.
In addition, the poll revealed that much of Trump’s improvement with Catholics is due to his drastic increase in support among Hispanics.

FOX reported: “Biden currently leads among Hispanic Catholics with a narrow 49%-47% split, but the close contest marks a major shift rightward for the demographic.”
Pew Research’s 2020 poll “found Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump with a staggering 67%-26% split,” FOX’s report pointed out.
This accounts for a staggering 39 point improvement with Hispanic Catholics for Trump.
More than six in ten – 61% of – white Catholics prefer Trump to Biden in 2024, according to the recent Pew Research Poll.
In fact, white Catholics are four points more likely than white non-evangelical Protestants (57%) to support the presumptive Republican nominee over Biden, per the poll.
However, the religious group most likely to support Trump remains white evangelical Protestants. Eighty-one percent prefer him to Biden.
Moreover, 87% of atheist voters polled indicated that they support Biden over Trump.

“Remember the FBI began investigating Catholics a year or so ago along with the school moms,” he wrote.
