CV NEWS FEED // This week, abortion giant Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) released its annual report, indicating it received more taxpayer funding in 2022 than ever before in its history.
PPFA staff executed 374,155 abortions, and received $670.4 million in taxpayer funding during its 2021-2022 fiscal year, according to the report. This is 9,305 fewer abortions than the previous year, a 2.4% reduction from the 383,460 abortions the group committed in 2020-2021.
In spite of the lower numbers, PPFA still committed the second-highest number of abortions in its history — 1,025 children died every day at the hands of PPFA staff. Compared with its 2013 report, this marks an increase of 46,989 abortions annually.
Dobbs Saving Lives
Since the June 2022 Dobbs decision, there were 32,260 cumulative fewer abortions from July to December of 2022 than in the previous year, according to the #WeCount report published earlier this month by the pro-abortion Society of Family Planning.
That number largely echoes a 2022 report from PPFA’s former affiliate, the Guttmacher Institute, which stated that in 2020, seven states “accounted for 80,500 abortions, or an average of about 6,700 abortions each month.” According to the report, prior to Dobbs Georgia, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee had 71 abortion facilities cumulatively. Since last June, however, this number has decreased to just 28 abortion mills.
In its annual report, PPFA confirms that it received more government funding last year than ever — a $37 million increase over the $633.4 million it collected the previous fiscal year. In fact, over 36% of all funding comes from taxpayers through government funds, compared with 36% from private donors and just 19% from fees collected from its clients.
PPFA’s revenue far outstripped its expenses in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, yielding $204.7 million in profit and reported total assets of $2.7 billion.
Not Just Abortions
PPFA also reported that 41 of its 49 affiliates carry out “transgender” hormone injections and/or distribute puberty blockers. This represents a major surge in so-called “gender-affirming care” being performed by PPFA: In 2020-2021 only 30 affiliates reported such activity.
PPFA’s report lumps “transgender services” into the category of “other procedures.”
Planned Parenthood reported 256,550 “other procedures” in its most recent review — a massive 1,613% increase over the 15,902 miscellaneous procedures reported in the previous year’s report.
