CV NEWS FEED // “Something beautiful is happening all across America!” shared Tim Busch, president of the Napa Institute, after participating in part of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage in New York.
In an emailed news release, Busch said that he and his wife, as well as a group of friends, caught the eastern Seton Route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage as it came through New York City.
“It’s always a beautiful and emotional experience to process through New York,” Busch wrote, later adding:
Eucharistic processions are a powerful evangelistic tool. They let us give witness to the real presence of Jesus, bringing great conversion to all involved—and hopefully, all who see it.
CatholicVote previously reported on the Seton Route’s procession through the Diocese of New York and Brooklyn, where it continued on to Metuchen, New Jersey. Busch said that he also participated in part of the New Jersey procession, after the Blessed Sacrament had been transferred by boat across the Hudson River, blessing the Statue of Liberty along the way.
Busch included a short reflection from Fr. Roger Landry, a priest who is one of the perpetual pilgrims walking the Seton Route all the way to Indianapolis.
“[The] boat ride [across the Hudson] was an opportunity for the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage to draw near the Statue of Liberty, to pray for the United States on Memorial Day, and to focus on how Jesus is the true source of freedom,” Fr. Landry said, according to Busch.
He added:
The rains had stopped, permitting Cardinal Dolan to give a benediction from the bow of the boat on all those present on Liberty Island. While on the boat, Cardinal Dolan also blessed Manhattan and gave a final benediction to the Seton Pilgrims as they were preparing to disembark in New Jersey.
