CV NEWS FEED // Multiple sources reported that the Biden administration is considering the idea of granting parole to illegal migrants married to American citizens.
Critics quickly slammed the proposed policy as “amnesty” and promoting “marriage fraud.”
On Monday, Reuters noted that the Biden White House “is weighing ways to provide temporary legal status and work permits to immigrants in the U.S. illegally who are married to American citizens.”
“The Biden administration also has examined the possible use of ‘parole in place’ for spouses of U.S. citizens,” Reuters continued:
The temporary status would provide access to work permits and potentially a path to citizenship. No actions are imminent or finalized, the sources said.
A White House spokesperson said the administration “is constantly evaluating possible policy options” but declined to confirm discussions around specific actions.
Earlier Monday, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) indicated that such an “idea has gained currency inside the White House since last summer.”
“There is a growing recognition among Biden’s top political advisers that the president could benefit from taking a positive step on immigration to contrast with his tough talk on the issue, and with an expected executive order aiming to sharply curb illegal crossings at the southern border,” the WSJ stated.

The WSJ’s report continued:
Officials inside the White House and at the Department of Homeland Security have been studying a range of proposals to provide work permits or deportation relief for millions of undocumented immigrants who have lived and worked in the U.S. for a long time. They have zeroed in on the population of mixed-status families, where typically the children and one parent are U.S. citizens, because they believe that demographic is the most compelling, according to administration officials and advocates who have spoken with them.
Per the WSJ, there are approximately 1.1 million illegal migrants in the country who are married to American citizens.
After news of Biden’s immigration policy proposals broke, proponents of increased border security denounced the idea, pointing to the already unprecedented crisis at the southern border.
Rep. Josh Brecheen, R-OK, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday, “We CANNOT allow this new Biden plan to happen.”
“After allowing more than 9 million aliens to enter our country illegally and failing to secure our border, President Biden now wants to provide legal status to 1 million+ illegal immigrants who are married to American citizens,” he added.
“Americans must wake up and realize that certain Democrats’ real goal is citizenship for illegals and to use illegals to increase the census count so they can win more congressional seats,” the congressman stressed.
Political commentator Collin Rugg wrote on X: “After welcoming over 7 million illegals into the country, Biden still has more ‘compassion’ to give.”
“The media assured me this was just one big conspiracy theory!” Rugg went on.
X owner Elon Musk replied to Rugg: “The reason the border is open is to import as many Dem votes as possible.”
The Immigration Accountability Project (IAP) wrote that Biden’s plan “is a move that will encourage marriage fraud and incentivize more illegal immigration, since it rewards illegal behavior.”
In a previous post, IAP said that “parole in place” was akin to “amnesty.”
CatholicVote Director of Governmental Affairs Tom McClusky stated: “These loose regulations invite fraud and temporary marriages of convenience on an already proven incompetent Biden immigration bureau.”
“This administration continues to invite illegal activities that put American citizens at risk,” he emphasized.
