CV NEWS FEED // Almost two years after a historic Catholic church was burned to the ground in Shady Spring, West Virginia, a circuit court has sentenced two of three men charged with the crime to 10 years in prison.
Local news outlet WVVA reported that 21-year-old James Dean Elmore received his sentence last week. WVVA added that 10 years in prison is the maximum sentence for a second-degree arson charge.
On March 14, Elmore received another 10 year sentence for including a minor in a pornographic video. He will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Both his ten year sentences will be served at the same time.
Elmore was arrested in July 2022 after Saint Colman Catholic Church was completely destroyed by “a suspicious fire,” according to West Virginia fire officials.
WWVA reported at the time that Elmore was charged with felony conspiracy and accessory after the fact, while another individual, Braxton Miller, was charged with arson.
The court sentenced Miller to 10 years in prison last week as well.
