CV NEWS FEED // In response to the controversial “Pride” flag being flown on public property including the White House, local governments across America are instituting legislation to ensure that citizens remain united under the stars and stripes.
“It’s a sad state of affairs when the White House prioritizes their radical social agenda over patriotism,” stated Sen. Roger Marshall, R-KS after President Joe Biden flew the LGBTQ flag front-and-center at the White House. “The American flag stands for liberty and justice for ALL and should never be undermined by anyone, especially the President of the United States,” Marshall said.
Marshall introduced a “One Flag for All” bill on Flag Day this year. The bill would make it illegal to fly, drape, or display any flag other than the American flag on federal buildings or properties.
States everywhere are taking similar action, notably even in blue states like California.
Orange County in early June followed the example of one of its cities, Huntington Beach, which voted in February of this year to fly only National, State, and military-related flags on government property.
“We, the City of Huntington Beach, are one community with many different cultures and people. All are equally valued members of our community, and none are to be treated differently or discriminated against,” a councilwoman stated.
Parts of New York and Michigan have passed similar legislation. Though its law was broader than most, the city of Hamtramck, MI faced a lot of resistance from liberals.
“The resolution stipulates that along with the American flag, the city also flies flags ‘that represent the international character of the area,’” CNN reported. “It says that ‘each religious, ethnic, racial, political, or sexually oriented group is already represented by the country it belongs to.’”
School districts in Wisconsin, Utah, and Alabama have voted to keep Old Glory preeminent in their classrooms to unite their students as American citizens.
“As school administrators, we must maintain a position of neutrality on political issues and not impose a teacher’s personal views and beliefs on our students through such displays in the classroom,” the Madison, AL school board stated, referring to other cause-related flags:
Allowing teachers and staff to display flags on school grounds with respect to political, religious, or cultural issues may create an environment of exclusion for some students who hold different viewpoints on sexuality, religion, or politics.
The state of Pennsylvania has legislation in place to ensure proper flag etiquette at its capitol building. In 2021, then-Lt. Governor Jon Fetterman was asked to remove the “Pride” flag he illegally hung from his office.
The State of Florida proposed a similar bill earlier this year to ensure that public property remains inclusive to all Americans.
“Old Glory must reign supreme as a symbol of our nation’s freedom that thousands of our service members and veterans have fought and died to protect,” Marshall stated. The American flag should never be “sidelined for culture wars and political points and remain[s] the sole symbol of our nation’s freedom and sacrifices.”
