CV NEWS FEED // This week on the Hill Congressman Bob Good, R-VA, introduced a resolution in the House designating the week of November 11 as “National Pregnancy Center Week,” with Senator Mike Lee, R-UT, bringing the companion resolution to the Senate.
H.Res. 1509 would “recognize the vital role that community-supported pregnancy centers play in saving lives and serving women and men faced with difficult pregnancy decisions,” according to the text of the bill.
“Pregnancy centers provide mothers a safe place to turn to as they look for help, hope, and healing during challenging times,” Good said in a press release concerning the measure:
These centers and the individuals who work and volunteer at them deserve to be supported and recognized for the vital role they play in helping mothers and their families. I’m proud to stand with leaders like Senator Mike Lee who are working to protect innocent life.
Since the Dobbs decision, pregnancy centers across the nation have come under attack by pro-abortion groups, as CatholicVote has tracked. Several New York-based pro-life pregnancy organizations, as well as the organization Heartbeat International, have been involved in legal battles in defense of their ability to share information about and promote Abortion Pill Reversal (APR).

Heartbeat International President Jor-El Godsey lauded the bill recognizing pregnancy centers. He also praised the services that pregnancy centers offer to women in need across the country.
“Pregnancy help organizations across the nation serve as a beacon of hope, offering compassionate care and life-affirming services at no cost to women and families,” Godsey said in the press release. “Through the dedication of these centers, countless lives are changed for the better, providing practical support and emotional encouragement to those in need.”
Godsey concluded: “By empowering women to choose life and helping families thrive, pregnancy help organizations create stronger, healthier communities—one life, one family at a time.”
Good has been outspoken in his defense of the sanctity of life. On his congressional website, he states:
The right to life is a foundational principle of our nation, rooted in the Declaration of Independence, which states that governments are instituted in order to protect the God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There is no greater responsibility of government than the protection of precious, innocent life.
Good has introduced numerous bills to protect life in the womb, including, this year, the Life Act, the strongest bill protecting life in Congress. The bill would make it a federal crime for a licensed doctor or medical professional who receives federal funds to perform or prescribe an abortion at any point after fertilization.
In a press release at the time of the Life Act’s introduction, Good said, “There are 63 million fewer Americans alive today because of Roe v. Wade. Even after this horrific ruling was overturned, abortion remains the leading killer in America. It has prematurely ended the life of countless doctors, teachers, pastors, and engineers.”
“Thankfully, the Dobbs decision did overturn Roe, finding there is not a Constitutional right to abortion, and returning the regulation of abortion to the people’s representatives,” Good continued. “In a post-Roe America, Congress must legislate to protect life. It is our duty to follow the science that life begins at conception and end abortion so that every American has the chance to live.”
