CV NEWS FEED // The Diocese of Salina, Kansas, has announced that it will now begin offering two Memorial Masses per year for parents whose children have passed away.
Several years ago, the Diocesan Family Life Office began hosting one annual Memorial Mass to honor and commemorate children who have passed away. According to the Diocesan website, the original Mass was geared more towards grieving mothers.
“But as the event grew, it [became] more evident that more than one Mass was needed. It also became clearer [that] the Mass needed to be for mothers and fathers,” the Diocesan website stated.
The Diocese will now offer two Masses for parents who have lost children, “to remember and honor them and to find healing.”
The first Mass this year will be on May 7 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan, Kansas, and the second will be on May 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville.
Registration for the Masses is open online.
