CV NEWS FEED // Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Thursday released a ten-minute video in which the two shared laughs and casually asked each other questions.
Critics questioned the video, pointing out that its release comes amid mounting complaints that Harris and Walz have yet to sit down for any traditional full-length interviews with the media since the two became the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice presidential nominees.
The candidates did not discuss any of their proposed policies in detail during the video.
“I talk about it being halftime in America,” Walz said at the beginning of the video, which is titled “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on tacos, music, and the future of America.”
“We’re a touchdown down,” the vice presidential nominee continued. “And I kind of like the idea of being a little behind.”
Harris replied: “Well, I’m looking at Coach Walz right now. I’m looking at Coach Walz.”

Early in the video, Walz mentioned that he likes “white guy tacos.” Harris asked in reply: “What does that mean – like mayonnaise and tuna?”
“I’m the first vice president, I believe, who has ever grown chili peppers,” Harris claimed.
Later on in the exchange, Harris asked Walz about his “relationship to music.”
After four minutes of mostly banter, Harris stated: “We gotta help people get through a hard time. We can’t have a country and policies that let people fall through the cracks.”
Harris did not specify which policies she was referring to and instead asked Walz about his former job as a high school football coach.
More than halfway into conversation, Harris stated: “Our campaign is the underdog campaign.”

She continued:
And with our joy, we also have to understand that we’re still up against some forces that are trying to divide our country. It pains me the kind of division and the stoking of divisions that has taken place, right?
Soon after, Walz said: “It’s easier to divide than it is to build.”
Scrutiny of the video began on Wednesday – one day before it was released in full – after Harris and Walz’s accounts shared clips from it on social media.
FOX News reported Thursday morning: “Despite Harris not having a formal press conference or sit-down interview 25 days into her presidential campaign, both her and Walz have shared excerpts of their interview they conducted to generate hype for the ticket.”
“The clip was met with ridicule from conservative critics who said it encapsulates the fakeness of Harris’ entire campaign,” FOX added.
Political commentator Stephen L. Miller wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday night: “The first sitdown interview, Kamala Harris, and Tim Walz has done since she became the nominee is with each other.”
“And not a single journalist is ashamed or embarrassed of what has become of their entire profession,” he added.
The Daily Mail on Thursday called the conversation between Harris and Walz a “full ten minute feel-good video.”
“On the road, Harris has briefly answered reporters’ questions on the airport tarmac, but she has not answered any tough policy questions,” the Mail pointed out:
The vice president told reporters last week that she wanted to do a sit-down interview by the end of the month, but the campaign has not revealed who she would sit down with for her first interview weeks after locking in the nomination.
The Mail contrasted Harris’ and Walz’s media shyness with the boldness of their Republican opponents, former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance, R-OH.

“Trump held a press conference last week in Florida and is holding another on Thursday in New Jersey,” the Mail pointed out. “Vance has taken numerous questions from the media on the road and appeared for a series of sit down interviews with print and television journalists.”
