The second round of voting in CatholicVote’s second annual HERO OF THE YEAR tournament opened on December 7.
The Sweet 16 contenders have been narrowed down to an “Elite 8.”
Who were the round one winners?
Whistleblower Kyle Seraphin, who exposed systematic anti-Catholicism in the FBI, will be facing off in the bracket against superstar pitcher Trevor Williams, who spoke out against anti-Catholic bigotry in the woke MLB.
Republican governor of Texas Greg Abbott, who upheld the foundational principle of Catholic social teaching that parents are the primary educators of their children, will be competing against Archbishop of LA, José Gómez. His Excellency bravely took a stand against the Dodgers’ scandalous honoring of an anti-Catholic hate group, the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.”
The formidable public opponent of trans ideology Mary Hasson is up against Mark Houck, who is now suing the DOJ for its traumatic persecution of him and his family for their pro-life convictions.
Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington staunchly articulated the moral obligation Catholics have to vote and vote well. He’ll face off against Lila Rose, who delivered a stunning defense of marriage and family life on the secular “Whatever” podcast twice this year.
There are truly eight elite Catholics in this round, but only four will go on to the next round.
