CV NEWS FEED // The Diocese of Columbus, Ohio, has announced that one of the four National Eucharistic Processions will travel through the diocese on its way to the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis.
In preparation for the National Eucharistic Congress in July, four Eucharistic processions will leave from different locations around the U.S. and converge in Indianapolis. The eastern route, named after St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and beginning in New Haven, Connecticut, will travel across Ohio and make eight stops in the Diocese of Columbus.
The Catholic Times reported that the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton route begins on May 17, but that the procession will not enter the Diocese of Columbus until June 24.
At each stop along the route in the Diocese, different opportunities will be available to pilgrims, including Mass, Eucharistic adoration, picnic dinners, and a vocations fair. Bishop Earl Fernandes of Columbus, is scheduled to celebrate five Masses, three of which will be bilingual in English and Spanish.
The other routes begin from the other borders of the country, including the Marian Route from northern Minnesota, the St. Juan Diego Route from south Texas, and the Junipero Serra Route from San Francisco.
The Catholic Times added that small groups called Perpetual Pilgrims will walk the entire route, traveling 10 to 15 miles per day. Other Catholics are invited to walk with Eucharistic processions for as long as they want.
The processions’ target, the five-day-long National Eucharistic Congress, will feature dozens of speakers, Masses, Eucharistic adoration, Catholic vendors and exhibits, and more.
