CV NEWS FEED // CatholicVote President Brian Burch weighed in on President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 election and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, citing the new Democratic frontrunner’s long history of animosity toward Catholics.
“Kamala Harris hates what we believe,” Burch said.
He explained that Harris “believes that all faithful Catholics should be disqualified from serving as federal judges.”
He cited then-Senator Harris’ opposition to Judge Brian Buescher, a Knight of Columbus whom President Donald Trump successfully appointed to the federal bench.
Burch noted that Harris at the time asked Buescher “if he knew that the Knights had taken ‘extreme positions’ on life and marriage. ‘Extreme’ as in beliefs held by the Catholic Church itself.”
“Harris then asked if he intended to renounce his membership with the Knights if he was confirmed,” the CatholicVote president added.

“Not only is this a gross form of anti-religious bigotry, it’s also unconstitutional,” Burch said. “Harris’ version of being Catholic is a Catholic who surrenders their core beliefs.”
He also highlighted her fervent support of abortion: “When she last served in the U.S. Senate – her rating from Planned Parenthood was a perfect 100.”
Burch indicated that the vice president’s hostility to the teachings of the Catholic Church dates back to before she was even elected to the Senate.
In 2015, when Harris was still serving as California Attorney General, she backed a controversial state law “that forced pregnancy care centers to tell vulnerable women where they could get free abortions and advertise abortion clinics,” Burch pointed out. “The law was so egregious, it was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2018.”

“Over the past three years, she was given two jobs: Fix the border, and serve as Joe Biden’s abortion political henchman,” he continued.
“Kamala Harris must be stopped,” Burch concluded.
