CV NEWS FEED // A city councilman raised the idea of creating a sign-up sheet for wealthy individuals to host migrants in their homes as a solution to the Chicago area’s ongoing illegal immigration crisis.
“I do know that there’s a lot of people who do care,” Naperville, IL City Councilman Josh McBroom said at a city council meeting last week when the topic of what to do about the surge of migrant arrivals came up.
“I think we live in a compassionate community. My idea would be … let’s find out who’s willing to help,” he said. “We do have a very affluent community, a lot of big homes.”
“What I would like to do is direct staff to create a sign-up sheet,” McBroom continued, “for individuals who would be willing to house migrant families.”
“And if there’s people that would do that, God bless them,” he added. “I think we need to find out who would be willing to house migrant families.”
Three of McBroom’s city council colleagues “all appeared to back [his] suggestion, but no formal vote was taken,” The Daily Wire reported. “McBroom said staff would be told to ‘come back with their ideas on how they could facilitate something like this.’”
“I took it on myself, I’m like, we’re gonna address this problem right here,” McBroom told FOX News this week. “And here’s a potential solution. If you want to live your virtues, and you support this policy, and you live in a nice, comfortable home in this town, then maybe, maybe open it up.”

“I think that my deadpan delivery might’ve been too good,” McBroom noted on a Wednesday Newsmax interview.
Many “progressive” residents of Naperville profess to support welcoming migrants, he said, but the same people have “been pretty quiet about” his sign-up sheet idea. “I don’t think they want any part of [it].”
McBroom stressed the importance of being able to speak his constituents’ language.
“In my community, Biden won by 20 percentage points,” he explained:
We are a deep, deep, blue affluent suburb. This is what people voted for. They voted for open borders. They advertise it in their front lawn with the sign that says “No Human is Illegal.”
And, I’m not going to mock them. If those are your virtues, okay, we heard it. This is what you voted for.
“We got thousands, thousands of [migrants] being bused into the Chicagoland area and Chicago can’t handle it,” said McBroom. “And there’s pressure on the suburbs.”

A city spokesperson said that at least six busloads of illegal immigrants have been dropped off in Naperville since December 21, even as nearby Chicago has been sent thousands of illegal immigrants from Texas.
In the past few years, multiple sources have identified Naperville as “the wealthiest large city in the Midwest.”
