CV NEWS FEED // CatholicVote on Monday officially endorsed former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
“Today we’re … very grateful to be endorsed by one of the nation’s largest Catholic advocacy groups, CatholicVote,” Trump said in a Monday evening speech in New Hampshire. “And I just want to thank them. They are incredible.”
“I don’t know what it is with Catholics but the FBI is going after Catholics,” he added. “Why would any Catholic vote for a Democrat? …Think of it, what they’re doing, I hear stories that are just horrible. Why would a Catholic be voting for Biden or a Democrat? Doesn’t make sense, it’s horrible – what they’re doing is horrible.”
In announcing the endorsement, CatholicVote President Brian Burch said that with “both Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis exiting the race, the choice is now clear.”
“I know many Catholics are divided over whether Trump is the best candidate to defeat Biden. But that’s also what primaries are for,” Burch added. “The only two candidates that remain are Trump and Haley. And the choice is a no-brainer.”
Burch stressed the importance of defeating Biden in November, citing the incumbent’s radically pro-abortion stance, his administration’s weaponization of the federal government against Catholics, and the border crisis.
Just this morning, the Biden administration announced a massive new push to expand child-killing drugs on the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade,” Burch stated:
Since his election, his administration has targeted our children, schools, and families. He’s failed to protect our churches, excused illegal FBI spying on Catholics, and called faithful citizens like you and me the biggest threat to America.
Biden’s reckless border policies have led to the exploitation of millions of migrants, with even Democratic mayors in major cities raising the alarm. In 2023 alone, over 3 million illegal immigrants entered the country.
“Joe Biden is the Trojan horse of far-left ideology: presented to American Catholics as a caring, faithful, and patriotic grandfather,” the CatholicVote president went on. “Yet his age, mental acuity, and failures are hurting millions of Americans – including Catholic families everywhere.”
Burch also referenced Trump’s accomplishments during his tenure in office, including his presiding over a strong economy, and his appointment of three of the six Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.
“We need a general to lead us,” Burch said. “Someone who knows the truth and is willing to fight for it – not simply someone who will calculate the path of least resistance to accomplish some good on the margins.”
“Politics often involves making bold decisions,” Burch emphasized. “And we’ve made ours.”
