CV NEWS FEED // CatholicVote on Wednesday defended President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard after former Ambassador Nikki Haley accused the Army Reserve Lieutenant colonel of being a “Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese sympathizer.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Haley expressed her opposition to Trump nominating Gabbard as his “top intelligence advisor” during an episode of the SiriusXM show “Nikki Haley Live.”
“DNI, Department of National Intelligence,” said Haley. “This is not a place for a Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese sympathizer. DNI has to analyze real threats.”
“Are we comfortable with someone like that at the top of our national intelligence agencies?” she asked, referring to Gabbard.

CatholicVote sharply countered Haley in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Haley is a well-known advocate of the United States’ continued involvement in foreign wars.
“Nikki Haley has now decided to grift off the DC war machine to sabotage Trump’s pick of Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence,” CatholicVote’s post stated.
“DNI is a powerful position charged with overseeing the declassification of key documents and running oversight on a rotten intelligence apparatus,” CatholicVote continued.
The organization noted that in Trump’s sweeping 2024 election victory two weeks ago, “The American People delivered a decisive mandate to rid their government of diseased interests actively working against them — among them the Military-Industrial Complex.”
“Tulsi is a direct threat to the power of these covert interest groups,” CatholicVote explained. “So people like Nikki Haley are tasked with the ritual of reading their script in front of a camera to subvert the will of the People.”
CatholicVote’s post concluded: “The entrenched war-for-profit regime in DC is dying and what we are hearing now is its last gasps of desperation.”
Politicians such as Haley who favor a hawkish foreign policy often baselessly accuse advocates of a more peaceful approach, like Gabbard, of being insufficiently loyal to the United States or even of being on the side of hostile nations.
A week ago, Trump announced Gabbard, a former star Democratic congresswoman who joined the Republican Party last month, as his nominee for DNI.
“For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our country and the Freedoms of all Americans,” the President-elect had said in a statement.
“I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength,” Trump added. “Tulsi will make us all proud!”
