CV NEWS FEED // President Joe Biden on Monday told a reporter in New Hampshire that he is “counting on the border action happening by itself.”
“Mr. President, when is a border executive action coming?” FOX News’ Caroline McKee asked him on an airport runway.
“I’m counting on the border action happening by itself,” Biden told her. “They’re passing it,” he added, referring to Congress.
McKee pointed out that “Congress can’t come to an agreement” on securing the border.
“Well they haven’t yet,” the president replied. He then appeared to say that he is “helping them.”
Critics quickly slammed Biden’s remarks, many of them noting that he issued numerous border-related executive orders immediately upon taking office – actions which are generally believed to have precipitated the immigration crisis that followed.
Comedian and political commentator Tim Young wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Just a reminder that Biden undid nearly 100 Trump executive orders on the border.”
Political commentator Jason Jones agreed. “Does he think President Trump’s border executive actions just rescinded themselves?” he asked.
X owner Elon Musk reacted with a simple exclamation point. Musk has previously criticized Biden’s handling of the ongoing border crisis on several occasions.

One X user had particularly harsh words for Biden. “It’s not gonna happen by itself, that’s what presidents are for, too bad you’re not one,” he wrote.
Another user posted: “Apparently the border is going to have to close itself because Joe Biden has no intention on taking action.”
During his State of the Union address last week, Biden stated that he is “ready to fix” the crisis at the nation’s southern border. He demanded that Congress send him a widely panned piece of legislation from last month which would have allotted three times more funding to the Ukraine war than toward U.S. border measures.
Biden called the bill the “toughest set of border security reforms we’ve ever seen in this country,” to the chagrin of many of the lawmakers present for his speech.
CatholicVote reported: “A month ago, a key architect of the bill promised that the ‘border never closes’ under the terms of the proposal.”
