CV NEWS FEED // Old State Saloon in Eagle, Idaho has declared the month of June 2024 to be “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” amid much of the business world’s embrace of “Pride Month.”
“June will be OSS’s inaugural Heterosexual Awesomeness Month!” stated a May 29 post on the bar’s Facebook page. “Come join us all month to celebrate heterosexuals, for without them, none of us would be here!” the post continued:
Each Monday will be Hetero Male Monday and any heterosexual male dressed like a heterosexual male will receive a free draft beer. Each Wednesday is Heterosexual couples day and each heterosexual couple will receive 15% off their bill.
Reactions to the bar’s announcement have been overwhelmingly positive. On June 3, the bar recorded record sales for a Monday. One couple reportedly drove 400 miles to visit the bar and participate in “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month.”
Still, a handful of pro-LGBTQ activists have targeted the bar with hateful comments and accusations. Despite this, the small business has stated it will not back down.
“It seems as though people who are against Heterosexual Awesomeness Month have a hard time commenting without using horrific words, expletives, using the name of the Lord in vain, etc.,” the bar posted on Facebook one day after the initial announcement.
In another post the following day, the bar doubled down again:
We hear lots of people are upset about Heterosexual Awesomeness Month! Please know: 1) We love our LGBTQ+ patrons! 2) We will not be changing our mind and give into the group of those who are responding with vitriol. 3) ALL are welcome to come celebrate heterosexuality with us in June!

Old State Saloon also wrote on its website:
Since we announced Hetero Awesomeness Month we’ve had some significant backlash: theft of our property, vendors refusing to fulfill our orders for ingredients, wedding catering cancelation, libel, slander – even the owner being falsely accused of being a sex offender!
But, to the credit of the community that is rational and reasonable, we’ve also received so much support from like-minded people who want to celebrate “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” with us, and get the concept of it as being about freedom and being true to our personal values.
The bar stated that it has set up a Give Send Go page to “serve as the conduit for people who want to contribute to this vision and fund the construction of a physical location specifically for traditional and faith-based events, preserving Idaho’s amazing and conservative culture.”
Per the website, Old State Saloon owner Mark Fitzpatrick “and his team are passionate about building a Community Event Center where conservatism can be appreciated, including Hetero Awesomeness Month-style events every year.”

Fitzpatrick, a Christian, told FOX News that it is his “dream to build a community event center on some nearby land I own to help support conservative ideals.”
“We’ve received so many truly evil comments from the extreme LGBTQ+ crowd,” the bar owner added. “Some of the comments are truly horrific. But, there’s also been so much support!”
The bar has also launched a webpage selling official “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” merchandise, which currently includes T-shirts with several different designs.
In a video created by WND (formerly WorldNetDaily), Fitzpatrick explained why he started the month-long event.
“Heterosexual Awesomeness is basically an opportunity to celebrate God’s design for man and woman, and that sexual attraction between them,” he said. “Idaho is the reddest state in the country as you know. We’ve got so many people here who are like minded and who want to do what’s right. They want to do what’s moral.”
“I think that this country is ready to stand up and say, ‘Hey, enough is enough. Let’s stand for things that are right and true and Godly,’” he continued. “Everybody is welcome to come here and help us celebrate Heterosexual Awesomeness Month.”
Popular X (formerly Twitter) account Libs of TikTok posted the video. The post received over 60,000 “likes” in less than 24 hours.
