CV NEWS FEED // A pro-Palestine protest erupted during Friday’s graduation ceremony at a Michigan performing arts college. However, within minutes the audience quickly drowned out the agitators with loud chants of “U.S.A.,” video evidence shows.
Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter Thad Green posted a series of videos depicting the incident to X (formerly Twitter).
“I was attending the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance commencement Friday when a pro-Palestinian protest broke out,” Green wrote on the platform.
“The protest lasted a few minutes before police arrived and the protestors left,” he added. “Many of the spectators began to chant ‘U.S.A.’ before the protestors exited the auditorium.”
In one of Green’s videos, over a dozen protesters can be seen walking down a row of the auditorium, close to the stage where the graduates were seated.
The protestors were carrying Palestinian flags and signs bearing various slogans such as “Free Free Palestine,” “UM [the University of Michigan] Funds Genocide” and “ACAB.”

“ACAB” stands for “all cops are bastards.” The acronym is commonly used by far-left supporters of the “defund the police” movement.
All of the protestors clearly seen on camera appeared to be wearing masks.
While some cheering could be heard, many audience members could be heard booing the protestors and repeatedly yelling “Get Out!”
In another video posted by Green, the audience loudly and continually chanted “U.S.A.,” while the protestors appeared to be standing still holding their signs and flags.
On X user replied to Green’s videos: “These protestors are going to get a lot of this. The ‘Usa! Usa!’ chant is just so satisfying.”
Another user commented on the fact that the protestors were masked.
“They believe in the cause so much and are so proud that they cover their faces,” the user wrote.
