CV NEWS FEED // Over 60 Alaskan pro-life advocates gathered in freezing temperatures last weekend to participate in a three-mile-long local March for Life.
Alaska News Source (ANS) reported that the march ended at an intersection near a Planned Parenthood facility, where a nearby cemetery features a memorial “to the unborn child.” Once at the cemetery, marchers prayed, sang together, and listened to speeches.
Mary Kemper, the event’s organizer, told ANS that the march was to demonstrate that unborn children have just as much of a right to life as anyone else.
“The science tells us that human life beings [at conception]; they deserve our protection as much as you do, and as much as immigrants do and as much as poor people do,” Kemper said.
Abortion in Alaska is currently legal throughout a woman’s entire pregnancy. In addition, minors generally do not need to notify their parents if they become pregnant or receive an abortion.Though Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy is pro-life, the state’s constitution protects abortion. Thus far, efforts to protect life instead have been overturned.
