CV NEWS FEED // President Joe Biden’s job approval among Americans has dropped, with an especially notable drop in support among Hispanics, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll.
“Do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president?” the poll asked. Among Hispanics, only 38% approved–a virtual tie with white Americans, 37% of whom approved of Biden’s job performance.
That’s a drop of 12 points among Hispanics in only a few short months. When Quinnipiac asked the same question in April, 50% of Hispanics “approved” or “strongly approved” of Biden’s performance as president.
The new poll also found that 47% of Hispanics disapproved of the job Biden is doing. 15% were undecided.
Also significant: According to the Quinnipiac poll, Biden’s overall approval rating is just 42%, with fully 50% of Americans disapproving. Among young Americans (ages 18 to 34), only 34% approve, while, again, 50% disapprove.
In addition, a majority of Independent voters (51%) disapprove of Biden’s performance, and Republicans “strongly disapprove” of Biden at a higher rate (87%) than Democrats “strongly approve” of him (57%).
Steve Cortes, Newsmax host and former Trump Hispanic adviser, quipped about Biden’s new numbers “He better replay Despacito on his mobile phone, or send out Dr. Jill to say ‘si, se pwodway’ again,” referencing two Biden campaign gaffes that were widely ridiculed as patronising and racially insensitive attempts to woo the Hispanic vote.
