CV NEWS FEED // A clothing brand that supports women’s sports has launched a fund and award program to financially support female athletes who lose scholarships or sponsorships for speaking out against letting men who say they are women play in women’s sports.
Jennifer Sey, a former star gymnast who launched a clothing line called XX-XY Athletics earlier this year, announced the “Courage Wins” award program via X on Aug. 1. The XX-XY Athletics Fund, which was also launched that day, supports the program.
Both the fund and the awards are donor-driven and provide scholarship assistance or sponsorship replacement for female athletes who stand up for women’s sports. Portions of purchases made at XX-XY Athletics go towards the fund as well.
“The XX-XY fund is designed to take monetary cancellation out of the equation to make standing up for women’s sports a little bit easier,” Sey said in a launch video. “We want girls and women to know that when they stand up for themselves, they will not stand alone. We will be right there with them.”

“The program is funded by the brand and employees. We are putting our money where our mouth is,” Sey additionally posted on X.
Several well-known female athletes and sports figures appeared in the launch video to support the fund and award program. Among them were Riley Gaines, who is also an XX-XY ambassador, Kim Russell, an ambassador for the pro-woman organization Independent Women’s Forum, and former NCAA swimmer Paula Scanlan.
“It’s uncomfortable sometimes saying unpopular truths out loud,” Sey said in the launch video, with Scanlan adding, “But we have to do it.”
