He’s younger, probably early thirties. He’s happy, and you can tell he prays. A lot. He’s from Poland, and speaks excellent English with a wonderful accent. He sounds the way you’d imagine a young Father Karol Wojtyla would sound if he spoke English. Clearly, firmly, with conviction.
He serves an upper middle class suburban parish. Just before the final blessing on Sunday, he paused and looked around the Church.
And then he said this:
“Election Day is Tuesday. Some people have come to us and asked who they should vote for. We can’t tell you who to vote for. But I can tell you this: as a Catholic, you cannot vote for someone who is pro-abortion. You cannot support them killing your fellow citizens. If you vote for such a person, you commit a mortal sin. And you cannot receive Communion until you have full repentance and reconciliation. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
God help America, and God bless this priest and the other holy and courageous priests like him.
