CV NEWS FEED // Apostolic Vicar of Arabia Bishop Aldo Berardi has penned a pastoral letter encouraging local Catholics, most of whom are economic migrants, to be filled with hope based not on earthly things but on Christ, according to a Feb. 1 AsiaNews report.
“If we fix our hope on things that pass away, we expose ourselves to disappointment because everything changes,” Bishop Berardi wrote. “But if we recognize that Christ is our hope, we will also be able to live difficult situations with patience and tenacity, knowing that the Lord always brings to completion the good that he began in us.”
In light of the 2025 Jubilee Year, the theme of which is “Pilgrims of Hope,” the bishop encouraged the faithful to go on pilgrimages to local parishes and shrines, especially to encounter God’s mercy.
According to AsiaNews, local migrant Catholics in Southern Arabia face hardships such as separation from families and needing to adapt to living in a new area. These difficulties, however, should not deter them from being “pilgrims of hope,” based on God’s love, according to the bishop’s letter.
He wrote that the 2025 Jubilee Year will be transformative for the faithful even in daily life and that it offers the opportunity to “discover how the Christian faith changes life, renews our heart.”
