The Vatican released the official calendar of liturgical celebrations that Pope Leo XIV will preside over in June, highlighting major feasts, jubilee events, and an upcoming consistory for the vote on causes of canonization.
The schedule opens with a Mass in St. Peter’s Square June 1, marking the Seventh Sunday of Easter and celebrating the Jubilee of Families, Children, Grandparents, and the Elderly. A week later, on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, the Holy Father will return to the square to offer Mass for the Jubilee of Movements, Associations, and New Communities.
The following day, June 9, the Pope will celebrate Mass for the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica. This liturgy will also mark the Jubilee of the Holy See.
On June 13, the pope will preside over an Ordinary Public Consistory in the Consistory Hall at 9 a.m. to vote on causes for canonization. The Vatican has not yet announced which individuals are under consideration for sainthood.
Later in the month, Pope Leo will celebrate key solemnities, including the Most Holy Trinity on June 15 and the Most Sacred Body and Blood of Christ on June 22. That celebration will begin with Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran and include a Eucharistic procession to St. Mary Major. The Pope will also mark the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 27 with a morning Mass for the Jubilee of Priests in St. Peter’s Square.
The month concludes June 29 with the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. At that Mass, held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo will bless the pallia for newly appointed metropolitan archbishops. The pallium is a woolen liturgical vestment symbolizing a bishop’s authority and communion with the Holy See.
