CV NEWS FEED // President Donald Trump secured a $600 billion economic agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia, calling it a generational investment that will strengthen American industry, security, and innovation.
The deal, unveiled during Trump’s May 13 visit to Riyadh, is the largest commercial partnership ever recorded between the two nations.
“This is a new golden era of partnership,” the White House stated, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s pledge to channel hundreds of billions into the U.S. economy through joint ventures, energy cooperation, and advanced technology development.
The deal also included what the White House described as the largest defense sales agreement in US history. Valued at nearly $142 billion, the deal includes advanced American military equipment, training, and support across five key areas: air and missile defense, space capabilities, maritime and border security, modernization of land forces, and communication systems.
Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia marks the opening leg of a broader Middle East tour and his first major overseas trip since beginning his second term.
The President arrived in Riyadh accompanied by senior cabinet officials and a delegation of leading American executives.
In a keynote address following the signing of the economic agreement, Trump praised what he called a historic turning point for the region, Fox News reported.
“Before our eyes,” he said, “a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts and tired divisions of the past, and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce, not chaos; where it exports technology, not terrorism; and where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together, not bombing each other.”
Standing alongside Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump called for regional unity and economic development in opposition to Iran’s destabilizing influence, Fox reported.
“If the responsible nations of this region seize this moment, put aside your differences and focus on the interests that unite you, then all humanity will soon be amazed at what we will see here in the geographic center of the world, and the spiritual heart of its greatest faiths,” he said.
Trump also expressed hope that Saudi Arabia would take further steps toward regional peace through formal normalization with Israel. The President said he wants to see the kingdom become a signatory to the Abraham Accords — agreements that have already brought several Arab nations into diplomatic relations with Israel.
According to the BBC, the Crown Prince described the US and Saudi Arabia as “two friendly countries” with “deep economic relations.” He said the day’s meetings were focused on further strengthening that partnership. Joint investments, he stated, are “one of the most important pillars of our economic relationship,” and he expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia would “continue to build” alongside the US.
During his speech, Trump announced his intention to lift US sanctions on Syria, stating that the move aims to give the country “a chance at greatness,” BBC reported.
He also addressed tensions with Iran, expressing a willingness to pursue diplomacy.
“I want to make a deal with Iran. If I can make a deal with Iran, I will be very happy,” Trump said.
At the same time, he warned that if Iran rejects this “olive branch” and continues to threaten its neighbors, the US would respond with “massive maximum pressure” aimed at cutting Iranian oil exports to zero.
