That’s what they call it: “The Procedure.” In each new video released by the Center for Medical Progress and in the articles by the few liberal pundits who have dared to come forward in defense of Planned Parenthood’s barbarity, the abortionists use euphemism after euphemism to skirt around the despicable reality of what occurs in the sterile and secretive halls of an abortion clinic. They must do this, because to speak candidly and honestly about what abortion is means using unpleasant words that conjure ugly and difficult images.
Planned Parenthood performs abortions on an industrial scale. According to their own annual report, they performed 327,653 abortions in their 2013-2014 fiscal year. That detail alone should tell you something. They account for every abortion they perform as a line item in their annual fiscal report. That number is roughly comparable to the approximately 300,000 cars sold under the Chrysler brand in the same time period. Think of that: every time a new Chrysler sedan rolls off the assembly line in Detroit, a Planned Parenthood across town or somewhere across the nation kills a baby.
Abortion is big business, so the whirring blades of the abattoir must be kept constantly in motion to do their grisly work. To stop and reflect on the carnage, as Holly O’Donnell, Abby Johnson, Sue Thayer, Catherine Adair, and many others have done, is to slow down the machinery of death and, we pray, stop it forever. These women have seen unspeakable horrors which led them to a profound conversion to the side of life. How many pro-life advocates have switched in the opposite direction? Planned Parenthood knows this and they see it as a threat to their business.
Thus, a baby is “products of conception” or “uterine contents.” A severed arm or leg or a still-beating heart is “tissue.” The act of murdering, dismembering, and disemboweling (although not neccesarily in that order) a tiny child is “termination of pregnancy.” The doll-like miniature bones of the face and skull are the “calvarium.” The perfectly formed delicate body of this naked and helpless person is a “fetus.” However, when we see now with clarity what the euphemisms are meant to obscure, it is shocking and repulsive.
These words are both the cause and a symptom of the dehumanizing effects of abortion not only on the victims, but on the purveyors of death themselves. In the latest video, O’Donnell describes an instance of harvesting brains from a baby while its heart was still beating. She says of her boss, “She gave me the scissors and told me that I had to cut down the middle of the face. I can’t even describe what that feels like.” Destroying the face is a primal act, because it attacks the memory and the very existence of the person. These voiceless, nameless, and literally faceless babies are completely annihilated.
For the workers in the murder mills, they must become desensitized to the blood and gore they see every day, because to confront the scale of this depravity on a daily basis would be unbearable. Then again, how many of them are haunted by these ghastly visions? How many of them are wracked by guilt? How many more will step forward and bravely witness to the truth? Pray for them, because they must live with the blood of innocents on their hands, but also because they have the strongest and most compelling testimony that abortion must end.
