In a faith-driven response to the ongoing disaster in Texas, a Catholic nonprofit is mobilizing nationwide support for flood victims through an initiative inspired by the legacy of Saint Padre Pio.
According to a press release from the Padre Pio Foundation of America, the organization is directing donations to its disaster response partner, Heal-Corp, which has deployed teams across the region to assist with emergency operations.
Heal-Corp currently has more than 100 response units active on the ground, carrying out search and rescue missions and delivering emergency supplies. Their team employs a combination of trained rescue dogs, a specialized drone named “Pio” to navigate hazardous areas, and even a mule to transport medical gear to places unreachable by vehicle.
Founded in 1977, the Padre Pio Foundation of America supports a range of religious and charitable initiatives, including aid to Padre Pio’s friary and hospital in Italy. The organization is encouraging Catholics nationwide to contribute as part of its broader mission to carry on the saint’s legacy of prayer and service.
The foundation stated that all funds collected will be directed exclusively to Heal-Corp’s efforts in Texas to meet urgent needs on the ground.
