CV NEWS FEED // A South Philadelphia graduate of a local Catholic school has donated over $500,000 to his alma mater.
Founder and CEO of B2B marketing firm 2X, Dom Colasante graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 2006. Colasante made his donation on February 27 through the Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) scholarship fund according to a CBS News report.
“For over forty years, BLOCS has provided tuition assistance to eligible pre-K, grade school, high school, and special education students to access high-quality Catholic education,” the organization’s website states:
We believe every child, regardless of race, religion, or financial circumstance, deserves a future filled with promise and hope. At BLOCS, we’re changing lives by providing opportunities for every student to realize their potential through safe, quality, faith- and values-based education.
According to the report, BLOCS “is considered the largest scholarship organization in the state,” and gives approximately 17,000 scholarships to students across the Philadelphia region.
Colasante is said to have told officials at the event on Tuesday that he had been given scholarships through BLOCS and wanted to give back.
Pat Shanahan, a teacher who had Colasante in her classes, recalled that he was “a stand-out student who absorbed everything.”
