Thanksgiving.
Eucharistia.
I’m guessing 90% of us will hear at Mass today that the word “Eucharist” comes from the Greek for “Thanksgiving” (it’s an easy go-to homily starter).
On this peculiarly American holiday – while eating turkey and remembering our Pilgrim forefathers – I love to remember how important Catholics and our Church are to healing and renewing our great nation.
We’re not afterthoughts. Or a sideshow. We are called to witness to the truth of everything – starting with the gift of every human person, and their destiny in Jesus Christ.
That’s why today I’m so grateful for all of you who support the mission of CatholicVote. You are part of this incredible calling and you understand that Catholics must play a central role in the renewal of the United States of America.
Your support over the years has allowed us to expand our team. Josh and I remark often that if we can succeed in one thing, it’s hiring people who are better than us!
In that spirit, I wanted some of the CV team to speak for themselves this Thanksgiving Day. I wish you could meet them all in person.
Here’s what a few of our staff say about working for CatholicVote… and working for you.
“On Capitol Hill the work of CatholicVote was well known and respected for the work before I came on board. The success we’ve had on alerts, stories, etc. has added to that respect. It makes my job MUCH easier to be riding such coattails.” – Tom, Political Team
“Through social media, I have connected with so many faithful Catholics who are committed to seeking truth. Knowing that so many people turn to us to know what’s going on in the Church and country has been humbling and inspiring. I’m so grateful that CatholicVote exists, and I truly wouldn’t be the Catholic I am today if it weren’t for this organization!” – Antoinette, Social Media Team
“I thank God everyday for the wonderful team here at CatholicVote! They are hardworking, diligent, sincere, and most of all, faithful. It’s rare to find an organization this devoted to Truth and the everlasting teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Jesica, Email Support and El Lazo
“My coworkers are some of the most humble and talented people I’ve ever met. The news cycle can bring us all down, but wading through it with them gives me hope for both our Church and our country. All glory and thanksgiving to God!” – Alyson, Programming Team
“I am privileged to hear from our supporters and readers who bless me every day with their thoughts, concerns, ideas, insights, prayer requests, stories, humor, and out-and-out immense gratitude for what we are able to accomplish on behalf of so many Catholics and other Christians who feel alone out there. We give them hope and connection. They bless us with their encouragement! So grateful to pass these warm sentiments of gratitude along to our incredible, faithful team who work long, hard hours of sifting through tough information to educate, help, and inspire our readers and followers.” – Sue, Customer Service
“Before I joined the CV team I worked for your standard garden-variety ‘woke’ corporation. By the grace of God, I was able to go from working for people whose “values” definitely did not align with mine as a Catholic to being on CV’s front lines — literally overnight. I am thankful and blessed to be given the opportunity to help build and protect the one true Church founded by Christ Himself. It’s also such a gift to be surrounded by an amazing and inspirational group of people who help me grow in faith each and every day.” – Anthony, LOOP Team
“I am humbled and honored each time I get to meet the CV supporters around the country who make this vital mission possible. My family thanks y’all. Please pray on.” – Jason, Development Team
They express my own feelings so well.
We here at CatholicVote wish you and your family a blessed and holy time together as we look forward to Advent.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving.
