CV NEWS FEED // Just short of a full month of President Donald Trump’s administration, approval ratings are still high for both Trump and his controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), RealClearPolling recently found.
A Trafalgar poll from early February reportedly found 54% of Americans approving of Trump and 45% disapproving, which RealClearPolling noted is a much higher approval rating than the approval Trump garnered in his first administration. RealClearPolling’s average of Trump’s job approval found 48.7% approval and 46.1% disapproval overall, giving him a net positive approval rating, something he reportedly has never had during a presidential term.
The DOGE also has received more approval than disapproval in the last month. In the wake of executive orders that have slashed federal funding programs and sought reorganization of the government, 49% of Americans said they approve of DOGE Chief Elon Musk and his efforts, while 44% said they disapprove, according to the Trafalgar poll. An Economist/YouGov poll similarly registered 42% of Americans approving and 38% disapproving of DOGE.
Americans are reportedly less enthused about Musk’s involvement with the government, but Trafalgar stated that Republicans’ approval of Musk is around +8%, while Americans overall are more likely to approve of DOGE even if they do not approve of Musk.
The last month has also seen a rise in Americans’ positive views of the country and its future and a decrease in the prevalence of negative views. In one month of Trump’s administration, those who said the country is on the wrong track went from 60% to 53%, while those who said the country is on the right track went from 28% to 39%, RealClearPolling reported.
The outlet also added that a Rasmussen Reports poll found that 2025 marked the first time since in the 22-year-long history of the poll that more people said the country is on the right track than on the wrong track.
