CV NEWS FEED // California bishops have launched an initiative, “Radiate Love,” to support and renew marriages by emphasizing the complementarity between the sacraments of marriage and the Eucharist.
According to the Archdiocese of San Francisco website, the bishops of California have dedicated the pastoral year of 2024-2025 (starting this July) “to support and empower married couples and families by linking the sacrament of marriage with Eucharistic Revival.”
In a video describing the initiative, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone explained how marriage, where the couple gives themselves to each other as one flesh, “complements the Eucharist where Jesus invites us to a supernatural Union between our humanity and his divinity.”
He added, “under the title Radiate Love, we want to help couples renew and deepen their appreciation for God’s immeasurable gift of the sacrament of marriage that through it they may be brought more deeply into communion with Christ.”
The initiative will include resources to support families, including “monthly reflections, prayers, videos, and other materials to help families become witnesses of God’s love.”
Resources also include a 7-part online video series on building a Eucharistic marriage, a workshop on building a Catholic home culture, and an article on the importance of prayer in marriage.
