CV NEWS FEED // Guiding Star Siouxland, a pro-life women’s healthcare provider, has relocated once again, this time moving back to Orange City, Iowa.
Originally established in 2016 as Guiding Star Orange City, the organization changed its name to Guiding Star Siouxland and moved to Sioux Center in early 2022, according to a report from local news source Kiwa.
The report shared that Guiding Star is also expanding its services at the request of the community, adding a nurse practitioner and a Spanish-speaking nurse manager to the staff, in addition to birth and postpartum doulas, fertility educators, and lactation consultants.
The organization reiterated its commitment to providing comprehensive support across all stages of a woman’s life, including fertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum care, and menopause, with the goal of reducing concerns and fears associated with these experiences.
According to their annual report, Guiding Star saw a 42% increase in visits in 2023, and served 52 pregnant mothers, 16 of whom were “abortion-vulnerable” and chose life instead. They also provided care for mothers after abortion and offered free bereavement support consults.
Prominent pro-life activist Abby Johnson voiced support for Guiding Star in a statement on their website, saying the organization’s “call for pro-life and pro-women movements to work together is a progressive and powerful next step in ending abortion in our country.”
