CV NEWS FEED // Several pro-life and pro-family leaders and organizations have signed a letter urging the Senate to pass the proposed Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, calling it pro-child, pro-parent, and pro-life.
The letter, spearheaded by pro-woman and pro-family organization Concerned Women for America (CWA), is signed by many prominent conservative figures, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee.
CWA stated in the letter that the proposed bill “would provide common-sense tax relief to families who need it most, while also encouraging economic growth by incentivizing investment and job creation in the private sector.”
“Perhaps most important, H.R. 7024 is pro-child and pro-parent,” CWA continued. “It is universally understood that growing costs fueled by out-of-control inflation have strained family budgets, especially for younger, larger families.”
CWA added that the proposal would “tack” child tax credit (CTC) to inflation, allowing families to grow without suffering financial consequences.
CWA also pointed out that the bill is pro-life, and provides expectant mothers with the means to provide for their children.
“One of the most financially challenging times in a family’s development is pregnancy and the first few months of a baby’s life,” the CMA stated. “This period often involves necessary income loss from a budget that is already stretched. The CTC provisions in question provide a common-sense way to provide targeted pro-life tax relief to point of greatest need.”
The proposal will also “encourage workforce participation and support a family’s climb up the economic ladder.”
“While the House-passed language does not reflect the entirety of any single stakeholder’s policy preferences, its totality enhances liberty, embraces the inherent value of every life and every child, strengthens the family unit, and promotes economic flourishing,” the CMA concluded. “We urge the U.S. Senate to come together and take this important step forward.”
As CatholicVote previously reported, several other pro-life politicians and organizations have also supported the bill, including Catholic Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ).
