CV NEWS FEED // Pro-life congressmen are calling for an investigation into the viral incident involving the Fort Liberty Army anti-terrorism training presentation, which categorized pro-life organizations as “terrorist groups.”
Over 80 congressmen, including Senator Ted Budd, R-NC, Representative Elise Stefanik, R-NY, and Senator Ted Cruz, R-TX, signed a letter penned to Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth calling for the investigation of this incident to determine for exactly how long this material has been utilized, and to ensure that similar materials are not being used at other Army installations.
“The American public expects the Department of Defense and its personnel to defend the homeland from actual terrorists, not Americans who seek protections for children in the womb,” the congressmen stated in the July 12 letter.
As previously reported by CatholicVote, an Army anti-terrorism training presentation conducted for soldiers stationed at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, included pro-life organizations, crisis pregnancy centers, pro-life mass demonstrations, sidewalk counseling, and “Choose Life” license plates as “Terrorist Groups,” alongside organizations such as ISIS.
On July 11, a photograph of the controversial slide from the Fort Liberty anti-terrorism training went viral. Fort Liberty has since addressed the issue, stating on Facebook that “these slides will no longer be used, and all future training products will be reviewed to ensure they align with the current DoD anti-terrorism guidance.”
Senator Ted Budd posted on X on July 11: “Smearing pro-life Americans as terrorists is despicable. The materials briefed at Fort Liberty are disturbing. As soon as I learned of it, I directed my team to contact Army and Fort Liberty officials. They have begun an investigation. The Army must get to the bottom of this and see that it never happens again.”
Dr. Elizabeth Rex, President of The Children First Foundation, a charitable organization advocating for adoption and safe havens, and the official sponsor of the “New York Choose Life License Plate,” expressed her gratitude to Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for condemning the incident as “despicable” and calling for immediate investigations.
