CV NEWS FEED // A parental advocacy group is sounding the alarm that under a potential Kamala Harris administration, parents opposing “transitioning” procedures for their children could face legal prosecution, including custody battles.
In an October 28 press release, Sheri Few, founder and president of United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE), expressed grave concerns about how the current federal policies, described as “cruel” and “anti-parent,” could escalate under a Harris administration.
According to Few, child protective agencies across the United States are increasingly functioning as policing units, compelling parents to consent to “gender-affirming” treatments for their children.
She explained that those who refuse risk being labeled as “abusers” and could face custody battles. Additionally, states are being told that they must ensure that foster children who identify as LGBTQ are placed in “affirming” homes.
“That’s the ugly reality of what the federal Department of Health and Human Services is promoting under a rule issued by the Biden/Harris administration,” Few wrote in the press release.
“As the country is fast approaching the 2024 presidential election, people need to be warned that this cruel, evil, anti-parent and anti-child policy will worsen if Harris is elected president,” she continued.
The warning comes in the wake of remarks Alex Roque, director of the Ali Forney LGBT Youth Shelter and Services, made during a recent Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) webinar.
Roque criticized “conservative families,” who live in “hate-filled, homophobic or transphobic communities” for their rejection of LGBT ideology and asserted that “non-affirmation” should be considered a form of child abuse.
“There are no systems that prosecute or address family rejection as it relates to homophobia or transphobia,” Roque lamented. “Right now, nothing happens to those families.”
Few highlighted the potential implications of this view, particularly how it could undermine parental rights and state protections.
In Cuyahoga County, Ohio, HHS officials have been implementing a social worker model program since the Obama administration that reportedly “strong-arms parents into affirming whatever confused beliefs children express about their gender,” according to the Daily Caller.
“Parents who decline risk losing a voice in their child’s life,“ Few stated. “I can’t imagine a more authoritarian and abusive policy than this,” she added.
Few shared that the “San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus” released a song in 2021 titled “We’re Coming for Your Children.” Few explained that while initially intended to mock parental concerns, the song has ironically become an accurate reflection of the Biden/Harris administration’s and Democrats’ efforts to “target America’s kids.”
“Make no mistake,” Few said in the press release. “It’s going to another magnitude if [Harris] is handed the presidency.”
