CV NEWS FEED // Pro-Palestine protesters repeatedly heckled US President Joe Biden at a campaign event in Virginia last week as he attempted to rally support over “abortion rights” and mutual hatred of former US President Donald Trump.
In what one local news column described as a display of “pandering to abortion zealots,” protestors interrupted President Biden shouting Pro-Palestine slogans as he made multiple attempts to open his speech centered on “reproductive rights” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.
“The campaign appearance was supposed to be a victory walk for the president, who is garnering fairly lukewarm support from Democrats,” the column stated. “But their focus right now is on Gaza.”
“My name is Joe Biden,” he began, “I’m Jill Biden’s husband and Kamala’s running mate.” Some audience members laughed, and yelled “We love you Joe!”
However, once the President starting getting into the subject of “reproductive freedom,” an audience member yelled out: “Genocide Joe, how many kids have you killed in Gaza?”
Biden ignored the heckler, opting to thank the audience members chanting “four more years, four more years!”
He then attempted to return to the subject of abortion, when another audience member shouted: “Israel kills two mothers every hour!” Additional chants calling for a “ceasefire now” also ensued.
“They feel deeply,” Biden said as security removed some of the protesters.
“Let there be no mistake,” he continued, “The person most responsible for taking away this freedom [abortion] in America is Donald Trump.”
Through shouts denouncing Gazai “war crimes,” Biden shifted into a tirade against Trump and the onslaught of Post-Roe abortion regulations enacted by the Dobbs decision:
And let’s remember: It was Donald Trump and his Supreme Court who ripped away the rights and freedoms of women in America. And it will be Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all of you who are going to restore those rights for the women of America.
Responding to the mixed responses among audience members at the event, the column continued:
Biden isn’t able to deflect attention from his support for Israel by cozying up to women who were devastated when their legal right to abort their babies was eliminated almost two years ago.
“Let’s spread the faith,” Biden concluded.
